Las firmas española e italiana, ambas pertenecientes al Grupo Volkswagen, han llegado a un acuerdo por el que el SEAT León CUPRA 2017 se convierta en el coche oficial del equipo Ducati de MotoGP. La alianza, que por el momento tiene un año de duración, se traduce en dos aspectos. El primero, en que veremos en más de una ocasión a Jorge Lorenzo y Andrea Dovizioso a los mandos del compacto español. El segundo, la inclusión de la inscripción SEAT León CUPRA en la cúpula de la Ducati Desmosedici GP17, así como en el mono de los pilotos y en la indumentaria de todo el personal del equipo.
SEAT León CUPRA 2017, el más potente de la historia
El vehículo que protagoniza este patrocinio no ha sido escogido al azar, ya que, tras la última actualización, el popular compacto se ha convertido en el modelo de producción más potente en toda la historia de la marca. Un honor que consigue, en gran parte, gracias al excelente propulsor turboalimentado de gasolina 2.0 TSI, dotado de inyección directa e indirecta, que entrega 300 CV de potencia y un par máximo de 380 Nm.
Si nos centramos en analizar un poco más en profundidad a esta versión deportiva, podemos decir que está disponible en nuestro mercado entre 34.050 y 38.690 euros, en función de cuál de las tres carrocerías escojamos: tres puertas (SC), cinco puertas o familiar (ST). Otro aspecto destacado es la posibilidad de escoger entre dos cajas de cambios: una manual, de 6 relaciones, o la transmisión automatizada de doble embrague DSG, también de 6. En todos los casos la tracción es delantera, complementada por un diferencial autoblocante mecánico con control electrónico. Eso sí, en el caso de la variante ST, se puede optar por el sistema de cuatro ruedas motrices 4Drive.
Así se conquista a un piloto
Acostumbrados a las prestaciones de la Ducati de MotoGP, los pilotos del equipo oficial se lo pasarán en grande a los mandos del SEAT León CUPRA 2017. A fin de cuentas, todas las versiones alcanzan una velocidad máxima de 250 km/h (autolimitada), mientras que la aceleración de 0 a 100, en el mejor de los casos, está cifrada en 4,9 segundos. Respecto al consumo medio, oscila entre los 6,7 y los 7,2 litros cada 100 kilómetros.
De momento, ya hemos a Jorge Lorenzo llegando a la sede del equipo a los mandos del modelo español...
SEAT and Ducati go full throttle in the MotoGP World Championship
Martorell, 20/01/2017. - SEAT and Ducati have concluded a year-long agreement to jointly participate in the MotoGP World Championship. The 300 hp SEAT Leon CUPRA, the most powerful model in the history of the Spanish brand, will be the official car in the upcoming season of the Ducati Team in MotoGP, which consists of three-time world champion Jorge Lorenzo from Spain and Italy’s Andrea Dovizioso.
In addition to the historic first of featuring the Leon CUPRA as the team’s official car, the agreement also includes placing the brand’s logo on the front of the Italian manufacturer’s motorcycle as well as on the racing leathers of the riders and the uniforms of the team members.
SEAT and Ducati are part of the Volkswagen Group and share values such as “dynamism, passion for design and commitment to innovation and technology”, according to SEAT Sport head of Strategy, Business Development and Operations Antonino Labate. “These values are a mainstay of the SEAT Leon CUPRA which will be making its debut as the official car of the Ducati Team next March at the night-time race on the Losail circuit in Qatar”, he added.
Another thing both brands have in common is a successful track record in competition racing. Since 1970 and with the expert guidance of SEAT Sport, the Spanish brand has won two World Touring Car Championships (2008 and 2009), more than 25 rally titles and championships, and has successfully organised several single-brand competitions worldwide. Likewise, the Italian brand has been competing in MotoGP for 14 years, winning 33 races, and 24 seasons in the Superbike World Championship, conquering 17 manufacturers’ world titles, and is present in several other national championships. In 2007 the team won the MotoGP World Championship with Australian racer Casey Stoner.
Sporting Director of the Ducati MotoGP team Paolo Ciabatti said: “We are very happy to welcome SEAT as official team car for the 2017 MotoGP championship, in what is going to be a very exciting season for Ducati with Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso. The SEAT Leon CUPRA is a very sporty model and we are sure that our riders and team members cannot wait to have the chance to drive the new car very soon.”

It is also the fastest, as it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The new model, which is set to reach dealerships in March, represents the values of the SEAT brand by combining attractive design with cutting-edge technology.
The MotoGP World Championship, which is scheduled to make its season debut on 23 March in Qatar, will feature a total of 18 races in 15 different countries on four continents, and will be watched by over 2.6 million spectators at circuits throughout the world.
